Application:
The PTU 27/- series of filter separators are used for fine filtration and water separation
on hydraulic oils and turbine lube oils with a specific gravity lower than that of water
and which does not form stable emulsions with water.
The industrial M88 versions are mounted on a steel frame for improved handling and versatility.
Function:
The filter pump draws oil, for example from a system tank, and presses it through the
filter elements. From the center of the elements the oil flows down into the filter base
where water droplets, if any, adhere to the coalescer element, forming larger drops that
will settle in the bottom of the coalescing chamber. From the top of the filter base the
water free oil will flow back to the tank.
On type PTU separated water can be drained manually from the filter base whereas PWTU is equipped with an automatic water discharge system. The discharge function is monitored on the unit control box.
The pressure drop over the filter and consequently the contaminant absorption of the filter elements - is measured by the pressure gauge on the filter top. In addition the PWTU models are equipped with an electric pressure switch including automatic malfunction shutdown. The filter separator with suction line should be connected to the most contaminated point in the system tank - preferably to a drain, if existing.
