Application:
The PFU 15/25 series of filter separators are used for fine filtration and water separation on diesel and light fuel oils with a specific weight lower than that of water and which does not form stable emulsions with water.

Function:
The filter pump draws oil, for example from a system tank, and it presses it through the filter elements. From the centre of the elements the oil flows down into the filter base where water droplets, if any, adhere to the coalescer element, forming larger drops that will settle in the bottom of the coalescing chamber. From the top of the filter base the water free oil will flow back to the tank.
Separated water can be drained manually from the bottom of the coalescing chamber.

The pressure drop over the filter - and consequently the contaminant absorption of the filter element - is measured by the pressure gauge on the filter top. The filter suction pipe should be fitted near the bottom of the (storage) tank and the filter outlet should be lead down into the (service) tank near the suction pipe of the fuel injection pump.
